Small group classes

Most of our training is done in small, coached groups. Each class is planned for you, and Ben will show you how to do every movement safely and change it to suit your level. You don't need to be fit to start.

What the training involves

In plain English

  • Functional fitnessExercises based on the way you move in everyday life, like lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling and squatting. It makes daily things easier, from picking up the kids to carrying the shopping.
  • Strength and conditioningGetting stronger with weights, and building your fitness so you can keep going for longer without running out of puff. Ben holds a Level 4 Strength and Conditioning qualification.
  • Hybrid and HYROX trainingHybrid training mixes strength work with running and cardio. HYROX is a popular fitness race that does exactly that: you run a kilometre, do a workout station such as rowing or pushing a sled, then run again, eight times in total. Lots of everyday people enter, and we can help you train for one, or you can simply use the same style of training to get fit.
  • Personal training and nutritionOne-to-one sessions and help with what you eat. Rich to confirm these are still offered

What's in the gym

We've got barbells and rigs (the big steel frames used for pull-ups and lifting), Assault Bikes (air bikes where you push and pull with your arms as well as your legs), rowing machines, SkiErgs (a machine where you pull down like you're skiing), an Assault Runner treadmill that you power yourself, and plenty of open floor space.

Train on your own time

Our new unmanned facility means members can train outside class times. After a quick induction, you get a digital access code to let yourself in. Rich to confirm opening hours and who can use it

Classes for kids

Training isn't just for adults at AR+FF. Ben holds a Level 4 qualification in Strength and Conditioning, which means he's qualified to coach children and young athletes as well as grown-ups.

Sessions for young people focus on moving well, getting stronger and building confidence, at a level that suits their age and ability. Whether your child plays a sport and wants to improve, or just wants a healthy and active way to spend their time, Ben will make sure they're learning the basics properly and safely.

You can choose between 1-to-1 sessions with Ben or group classes with other young people. Ben to confirm: age range, class days and times, and prices.

If you'd like to know more or have any questions, get in touch with Ben and he'll be happy to talk it through.
